Bonjour...just back from Paris and got it together to blog...well, Aimée decided to really. Paris in late September and sunny October is jumping...Jours de Patrimoine with historical buildings open to the public. I visited Bertrand Delanoes office, the mayor, and wouldn't mind his corner view of the Seine. Then on Saturday it was blanche nuits the white night, everything opened all night and free breakfast for all at the Hotel de Ville...we went to St Germain de Pres swimming pool with a dj, light show and everyone in the pool. Fashion note...shoes, yes I found a ten euro pair of suede ankle straps in an old theatre with bins of shoes in the Goutte d'Or in the 18th arrondissement. Did lots of research for the next book and a reading at WHSmith on rue de Rivoli...right around the corner from where Coco Chanel opened her first boutique on rue Cambon...

Hey...if you're in the 17th arrondissement here's where to eat, drink coffee, buy a book or a doll part and some open air markets

Le Cyrano (great café with a zinc counter and locals)
3, rue Biot
Metro: Clichy
Every day except Sunday

L'Endroit ( hip crowd and good food)
67, place du Docteur Felix Lobligeois.

Librairie Brochant (nice indie bookstore with great selection of Asterix comics)
20, rue Brochant
Metro: Brochant
Every day

l'Atelier de Maite (Antique doll store with spare porcelain parts)
8, rue Brochant
Metro: Brochant
Monday-Saturday

Batignolles Covered market (renovated in the 70's but basic)
96 bis rue Lemercier.
Tuesday to Saturday 8.30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4 p.m.-7.30 p.m. ; Sunday 8h-1 p.m.

Organic market (what they call 'bio')
Batignolles
Bd des Batignolles
Metro : Rome or Place Clichy

Rue de Levi’s Market (ok, my favorite...it's got everything, clothes, olive oil from Provence and great bakeries)
rue de Levis

Flower market (chic and wonderful)
Ternes.
Place des Ternes

Every day from 8 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. except Monday

Rue Moncelet Market (Pricey)

Both these shops are in the rue Poncelet Market
Fromagerie Alleosse, 13 rue Poncelet, Paris 17; 9am to 1pm and 4pm to 7pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and 9am to 1pm on Sunday. (arguably the best cheese shop in Paris)
